Increase Fitness
Rob Corrigan
I started training with Tim 9 months ago. I simply thought I needed to take exercise more seriously following an operation and because I was applying to work for the Army and had to pass their fitness test. While I thought myself to be moderately fit, after Tim’s initial assessment, I found that I wasn’t. Blood pressure, body weight and composition all gave serious cause for concern and my flexibility was embarrassing. Seeing it in black and white was a bit of a shock.
During the last 9 months I have made steady improvements, partly because originally my blood pressure was quite high and this had to be under control before I could start the vigorous exercise that would be expected of me to pass my Army fitness tests. My blood pressure was in the region of 154/105 on a good day and is now a normal 133/78. I passed my Army fitness test, lost 7.5 percent body fat and my sit and reach has improved by 16 inches (41cm).
With Tim’s guidance and targeted exercise, I have learned to run properly, without the pain I used to get in my knees. Sports massage also assisted with this process and cleared up my backache. Sessions started with Pilates exercises to increase my core stability, then progressed to weight training and circuit training. I also received advice on nutrition. With regards to exercise, Tim always pays great attention to detail. The information is always given so I understand what I need to do and feel confident to exercise on my own, not to simply follow instructions.
I used to think that personal training was a nice, if slightly expensive, add on to the price of going to a gym. However, since working with Tim, I have found that unless you really know what you are doing, having a good trainer is the key to making real progress with fitness. I’ve no hesitation in recommending Tim as a personal trainer. My experience has been of steady progress and education, which has enabled me to make informed choices about lifestyle changes. He is also good, patient company.
